Controlled Environment Agriculture

We work on science-based technology development for the sustainable production of plants and their products.

Our faculty, staff and students research ways to use science and technology to grow food and develop biofuels and bioproducts efficiently, economically and sustainably. They explore how to produce plants and their products in controlled environments, such as greenhouses and growth chambers. The University of Arizona’s Controlled Environment Agriculture Center provides an ideal setting for this work and for collaboration with the center’s members. Additionally, our research interfaces with related areas such as plant systems biology, stress physiology and biosystems engineering to optimize the growing environment.
